How this is worked out
The same month-by-month projection the app uses is run twice for each candidate month: invest normally up to that month, then coast with no further contributions to your deadline. The earliest month that still lands on your goal corpus is your coast point.
It assumes about 11% long-term growth and about 6% inflation, and a 6% safe withdrawal rate to size the goal corpus. Your real returns will vary; this is an estimate, not a promise.
